#MirthMusicMon – I’m So Pregnant

29 Dec

Sooo pregnant. As a matter of fact today marks the first day that she could safely make her arrival and not freak out the medical professionals. Judging by the track record of my mother and a sister, however, there is a chance she could be up to a couple weeks late.

I could be with-child for another month after this.

Nooo! :O

Actually I’ve been mentally prepared for that possibility since before she was conceived, so it’s really just a big game of birth day roulette. (Physically, however, is another matter. Getting very tired of carrying around another person. Sweet and interesting as she is.)

Today’s Mirth and Music Monday is a song that reflects some of these sentiments (among others).

.

I was very proud of myself today. Twice while shopping I made it down to pick up something from the bottom shelf and made it back up without any help.

Yeah. I’m awesome. 🙂

Then I almost tipped over at the cash register while just standing there. Not even moving or holding anything. All of a sudden gravity shifted a little to the left.

Not so awesome. :/

There is a reason my husband likes for me to hold onto his arm when we walk through parking lots. lol

I haven’t even thought of any resolutions for next year. Should I?

Nah.

My hands will already be full enough just trying to figure out the whole mommy thing.

*Gulp.

Mommy.

Please excuse me while I have a mini panic attack about the impending arrival of the most responsibility any two humans can embroil themselves into within the space of a single year.

Parenthood.

Do you have any good pregnancy/early parenting stories? I’m convinced they’re the adult version of campfire ghost stories. We just have too much fun getting scared. 🙂  C’mon, share!

Or…

What are your resolutions for this year? What’s your past track-record? Do you have a foolproof plan for making them stick this year?

#MirthMusicMon – Oh, Santa!

22 Dec

It’s Monday and therefor time for Mirth and Music Monday!

You would think that yesterday being Sunday would have clued me in, buuut, apparently not. It snuck up on me.

You have no idea of the cluttered, half-thought-out, eclectic mess that my brain is in right now. But you’re about to get clued in. That is, if you’re brave enough.

Come. Come see. Bwahahahaha!

.

First I have for you a cute and funny little song from VeggieTales:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uD5pqOsW1PU

Yeah, I think a couple of veggies made the naughty list.

.

Now it’s time for some more music. Because I want it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiHJE3K5t38

It really is an adorable ice skating routine, and I had no idea that Marylin Monroe sang that song, too. It’s a good version, but I have to admit that my favorite is Eartha Kitt’s. There’s just something about her voice that makes that song come more alive.

Can you hang in there for just one more? Maybe?

How about a soldier Mom surprising her little boys, and getting a surprise of her own?

.

Just a sec. Could you hand me a tissue? Thanks. Hormones, ya know.

.

Welcome to the chaos that is my brain right now. (You should see all the lists that are trying to keep track of Christmas And what this baby is going to need when she makes her arrival next month. Then there’s just plain the oddity of attempting to keep thoughts in a straight line when little one kicks a rib really hard or I get a Braxton-Hiks contraction that tries to bend me in half. :/ Just breathe.)

*is this a hot flash? Crap*  Pregnancy is not for the faint of heart, people.

Yeah, so, click HERE to see Emily Witt’s #MirthMusicMon post for this week. It is very entertaining, so get over there!

I want chocolate now. Huh.

#MirthMusicMon – Dragon… Batting Practice?

15 Dec

This week I have to thank one of my brothers-in-law for finding the video. He showed it to me a couple days ago suggesting its use for my Mirth and Music Monday post. I must admit to some feelings of skeptisizm, but it’s just perfect for today. Especially since I have been laughing as Brian Rathbone (@BrianRathbone) has been so entertaining today with his silly questions like, “If you encounter a dragon at a 4-way stop, who has the right-of-way?”

My answer?: “Dragon. Always.”

Any-hooo… On to the videos! 🙂

This first one is the animation about the dragons. Enjoy!

Now for the music.

A couple of weeks ago I came across a clip from The Hobbit where the dwarves were singing a song in a hobbit’s living room. It was a cool song, but it didn’t sound… right?… complete?

So I did a little digging on YouTube and found a version that sounds a lot more filled out; like it’s actually telling the whole story rather than the clipped version in the movie. According to the person who posted the song the lyrics are still what J.R.R Tolken, just the full version.

It is 7 minutes and 41 seconds long, though, so I can understand if you don’t have the time right now. 🙂

So now that I have (hopefully) made you laugh and given you some decent music to listen to why don’t you click HERE to find out who else has created a #MirthMusicMon post.

That’s the same link you’ll want to follow if you should choose to play along with this little band of merry-makers. 🙂

Have a Great Week!

#MirthMusicMon – Elvis and Ann Margaret

7 Dec

Ah, Mirth and Music Monday. Let’s get started!

Almost a month ago my mom and I went to an Elks Karaoke night where some friends of ours were running the show. They are just too much fun, and it’s hard to resist going to see friends from my old theater group. 🙂

One of the first songs we heard after getting sat down was today’s choice for funny music. It was sung by an older married couple and they really laid it on. It just dawned on me a few days ago to look it up and see who sang it originally. I thought it would be some obscure Broadway tune. Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be a song from an Elvis movie (It’s from Viva Las Vegas, if you were curious).
