Merry Christmas, Seasons Greetings and/or Bah Humbug

25 Dec

We survived Christmas Eve, which was the day my family decided to hold our Christmas celebrations this year, making room for time with in-laws.

Baby Kathleen got some new clothes, including socks and tights! Thanks, Mom! 😀

She also got a dump truck with shapes and a removable driver. It’s in the playpen with her right now, keeping her thoroughly occupied. Also received were books, hats, and just enough money to start a children’s savings account for her.

I was given a gift card to a cool restaurant, a scarf/hood, a coloring book, plans for a fun day out, a set of decorative serving bowls and most likely a few other gifts which I can’t remember this early in the morning. I know Lonnie got some interesting gifts, too. Nothing expensive, but everything was very well thought out and wonderful. 🙂

So now we have the entire day waiting for us to do nothing but eat and loaf around. I may get to play some Wizard101, and play in my coloring book. That is if Kathleen will let me have a couple brain cells to myself. She’s been very clingy these last few weeks. I’m hoping this is molars coming through, and not just a difficult phase. Of course judging by the ear pulling and chewing on everything it’s pretty clear it is teeth.

Everyone seemed to have fun, though, and for that I am very thankful.

Even our dogs are having a treat this holiday season. The store was out of their usual food, so they were purchased a case of wet food. Wow, that stuff gets gobbled fast. lol

Well, I’d better get back to my eating. This morning it’s a 4 egg scramble with hashbrowns, peas, and black beans on the side. Kathleen is enjoying the occasional chunk of the egg concoction.

I’m hoping to get her started on a daily fruit and yogurt smoothie, so hopefully I can put a couple pounds back on in preparation for starting a sibling.

Eventually. Hopefully we can get a little more income flowing soon so we can more easily afford the next round of visits to the midwives.

On that note, I need to find ways to make a little more income (as in on the fun side of the decimal line?) from my meddlings on the internet. That may mean some minor tweaks to this site. Don’t worry, it won’t be obtrusive, or annoying. I have a very long list of pet peeves that relate to for-profit blogs.

Uh, oh. We seem to have butted up to a nap time. Time for me to sign off.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays!

Would YOU have passed this test?

22 Dec

Here’s a mid-week chuckle for you. 🙂

Chris The Story Reading Ape's Blog

You are driving down the road in your Corvette on a wild, stormy night, when you pass by a bus stop and you see three people waiting for the bus:

1. An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.
2. An old friend who once saved your life.
3. The perfect partner you have been dreaming about.

Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing that there could only be one passenger in your car?

Think before you continue reading.

This is a moral/ethical dilemma that was once actually used as part of a job application.

You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and thus you should save her first.

Or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life, and this would be the perfect chance to pay him back.

However, you may…

#MirthMusicMon – Baby’s First Christmas: The Reality

20 Dec

It’s Monday!!!

And we all know what that means.

Mirth and Music Monday! 😀

We all have that adorable photo op idea of baby’s first Christmas in our heads and hearts.

Then there’s what happens most of the time:

For music I found, well, at least ‘baby’ is in the title. 🙂

That’s it for me today, folks, I have about 3 dozen gifts to wrap while Kathleen is asleep.

I hope you have a great Christmas and/or whatever else you celebrate this time of year. 😀

Time for the Confetti Cannon!

18 Dec

No, I’m not pregnant again.

Baby number two negotiations have just begun.

And I’m not a big time published author. Yet.

Although we do hope to have some short stories out on Amazon in the next couple months.

And it’s not…

Oh, I can’t stand it.

I’m a size 6!

That’s right. The pants I am sitting in right now are a pair of 5/6.

They’re zipped up and everything!

Over a pair of leggings for warmth!!

I wore a dress a couple days ago that hasn’t fit me for over 6 years.

We got it for my high school graduation celebration at church.

Yes, this is that cool.

So, are you ready?

Here goes…

If I get back down here after the second baby I may have to throw an actual party. lol

Now I have to go buy new pants and skirts.

No, this is not fake complaining. I dislike clothes shopping. :/

Oh, well, at least it could be an interesting afternoon out with Lonnie. We need to get some last minute Christmas shopping done anyway.

Another gusty sigh.

You know what? I’m just going to go back to the fact that I’m back to my ideal size and leave it there.

Hooray for size 6!!! 😀

Now I just need to find me a really twirly skirt and I’m all set to play the little girly-girl. 🙂

#MirthMusicMon – Day and Night

14 Dec

My nights and days have been a little screwy recently.

Kathleen has been very needy recently (we’re suspecting she’s starting on molars), so the only time I really get to do some real work is after she has gone to sleep for the night.

Unfortunately, YouTube is something of a time-suck, so my last few nights haven’t been all that productive. :/

Oh, well. I’m working tonight. lol

This video also reminds me of the wonder I see in my baby girl’s eyes when she figures something out, or is introduced to a new thing. Just this afternoon she lit up over her and Lonnie taking turns drumming on his tummy.

She’s got a good sense of rhythm; any kind of a beat and she’s bopping along. Makes me smile. 🙂

#MirthMusicMon – You Can’t Have Him

7 Dec

It’s Monday! Therefore it’s time for Mirth and Music Monday.

When it comes to mirth you can’t go wrong with Carol Burnett and Tim Conway. 🙂

I’ve never had that problem, myself, but this would probably be pretty similar to how I would handle it.

Actually, if you’ve seen Serious Moonlight, you’ve seen how I would handle this. lol

Poor guy. 😉

Now for the music.

When it comes to man troubles…you can always rely on Loretta Lynn to have a song about it.

Ah, marriage. One of the most wonderful, difficult, infuriating, and worthwhile things a person can commit to. Right beside parenthood. There are moment of unspeakable joy…usually about 15 seconds before you’re ready to drop-kick them through the nearest window.

But I wouldn’t trade my husband for anything. We’ve known each other for over 10 years and he can still give me those wonderful tummy butterflies. I hope they’re still there in another 10 years. 🙂

I would like to take a moment to welcome the latest addition to our little blog hop, Sara Beth Williams over at Life, love and writing. She had an entertaining post last week, and posts at least a couple times a week. Sara Beth participates in a couple of other fun blog hops and also posts reviews of books she enjoys. Pop on over for a visit if you have a few minutes.
