#MirthMusicMon – Killing (it in) Ballet

5 Jun

For this weeks Mirth and Music Monday I found a couple funny ballet videos…well, probably not ballet in the strictest sense. lol

Take a peek. πŸ˜€

.

It is a well known fact that body builders often have very limited flexibility.

So, what would make these three try ballet?

Curiosity? The laughs? A triple dog dare? YouTube!

(Tiny ears warning: There are some swear words in this video.)

And just in case that little bit of ballet didn’t get a giggle out of you, here’s Barbra Streisand in Funny Girl killing (it in) Swan Lake:

#MirthMusicMon – Parenthood and Bluegrass

29 May

My husband spent the afternoon and evening really at home yesterday.

So he got to see what I juggle and go through in a day.

A few times he said something like, “She’s in rare form.”

No, dear. This is my new normal. Every day. For the past several weeks.

He has a new appreciation for how much actually does get done despite our two year old playing emotional and physical yo-yo with needing my presence and undivided attention vs. wanting to do things on her own and testing boundaries. It’s a train wreck of a roller coaster every. single. day.

But, she’s growing and learning, dinner is nearly ready most nights when he gets home, I am building a couple businesses in the quiet of early mornings, and the house is…well, still standing, at least. Haha!

Here’s a bit of a peek into what can happen in a single week of parenting a toddler:

If Adults Acted Like Toddlers – Kristina Kuzmic – YouTube

To be honest, I have only had to fish a couple things out of the toilet, and only field one floor tantrum so far. Hopefully I can continue to head them off, but, you know, best laid plans and all that.

And for a little reassurance for all of us parents in the trenches:

Now for some music! A toe-tapper to give you energy to continue chasing, trying, and going for it. πŸ™‚

Here’s to the craziness that is life, and all of it’s strange beauty. πŸ˜€

#MirthMusicMon – Victor Borge – Hungarian Rhapsody Number 2

22 May

Victor Borge is as funny as he is an amazing pianist; he never fails to crack me up.

I hope he helps lighten the Monday blues for you. πŸ™‚

#MirthMusicMon – How to Dad …for Toddlers!

8 May

This dad splashed onto the YouTube scene about two years ago after making a funny little how to for some guy friends. It went viral. Now, he’s something of a father hero, as he’s continuing to show how to dad with humor.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIvZHPeYy6Q

Here’s hoping he continues through their teens. He may keep a few parents sane through the last stretch of at home parenting. πŸ˜‰

This post would have been out an hour earlier, but I followed the link from his YouTube page to his Facebook page and got stuck. lol

Have a Great Monday! πŸ˜€

#MirthMusicMon – Sneaky Happy Birthday

1 May

Good morning!

Hubby is off to work, Baby is still asleep, and the dogs are out.

You know what that means?

I’m having a mini vacation!

Hahahaha!

Right. Time to get a couple chores done while I have two hands and no one under foot.

Yup. You’re right. A vacation. lol

Anyway, here’s the bit of Mirth and Music Monday fun I found last night. πŸ™‚

#MirthMusicMon – Dancing with the Funny

16 Apr

I actually laughed out loud at this one. Several times.

I hope you’ll get a kick out of it, too. πŸ™‚

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krDUAHwpSXk

I’m the same way over chocolate…and so is my toddler.Β  Hahaha!

And, because I couldn’t resist, the dance scene from Blast From The Past. (A very fun movie, if you have yet to watch it. πŸ˜€ )

Hopefully I will be blogging a little more often now that Lonnie has fixed my computer. Once he got the part in it took him just a few minutes to change out the keyboard. lol

Have I mentioned that my husband is a genius? ❀

#MirthMusicMon – Sippy Cups and Marble Machines

27 Mar

I’m going a little eclectic today, guess it follows with the theme of the week I just had.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAWGPEVGGBU

This is the main reason only water is put into Kathleen’s one remaining sippy cup. πŸ˜›Β  All other liquids are in a plastic cup (usually being drunk through a politely requested straw), and closely monitored while she’s in her highchair.

.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvUU8joBb1Q

I came across a shorter version of this song/video about a year ago, and it was one of the videos that Kathleen insisted we watch 10 times in a row. (Good thing I like it, huh?) It is a very interesting machine. You see the animated music machines and wonder if it would be possible to make them…well, yes, apparently. πŸ™‚

#MirthMusicMon – Make-up and Whiskey?

19 Mar

I have done stage make-up for melodrama.

I have done old age make-up for theater in the round.

I did my own make-up for my wedding.

I have never put this much make-up on in one sitting.

Ever.

Which is why her boyfriend’s voice over and reactions to her make-up routine is so funny. πŸ˜€

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0kjpdcT-Yo

Seriously! How many layers? lol

(I would advise against clicking on another of her videos with small children in the room, a video without bad language as punctuation is rare for the hilarious vlogger, Jenna Marbles.)

.

And, this song is totally unrelated, but has been stuck in my husband’s head for a couple days, therefore, in a way, stuck in mine. So in an effort to get it out of ours, I’m putting it out there so someone else can catch it. hehe

#MirthMusicMon – Yay, A New Post!

13 Mar

The kid is asleep, the linky has been changed over, and pumpkin pie is waiting as a reward for getting this done in a timely manner. Let’s do this! πŸ™‚

Kathleen is two, now, and loves anything on wheels, or four legs, for that matter.

I may have to see what she thinks of this song in the morning. Although, she may want one…

#MirthMusicMon – Long Hair: Yes or No?

30 Jan

While my hair isn’t quite this long, I am getting a little tired of the weight, time it takes to wash and dry, and honestly, after a certain length, French twists and cute pigtails are out.

It was a childhood promise to myself that if I stopped chewing my hair (and nails) it would grow to be really long and beautiful. Well, it’s been waist-length for a few years, and I’m kinda over it for now. Not like I’m brave enough to go for a bob or anything, but perhaps back up to the bottom of my my shoulder blades?

(The nails are staying, though. lol)

Anyway, here are some of the annoyances of having long hair.

I’m one of those women who learned how to count bobby pins as I put them in. It hurts when you come across a lost one while brushing out a ‘do.

And if you want to maintain sanity, and a decent night sleep, you braid your hair or put it way up on the crown of your head when you’re heading to bed. More than once I’ve woken up to hair wrapped around my neck. Just a little adrenaline in the middle of the night. hehe
